Blackberry Wedding Cake

blackberry cake

I’ve recently decided that I need to eat more fruit and fresh berries are currently on the top of my list of must-have snacks.

So, when I saw today’s wedding cake I just knew I had to share it with you because it looks delicious and it would be perfect for a spring or summer wedding.

This two-tier blackberry wedding cake is absolutely stunning thanks to the blackberries surrounding each tier.

The icing is also infused with crushed blackberries, giving it that gorgeous swirled look.

You could have any kind of cake inside, but I think something not-too-sweet would be best.

And of course, if blackberries aren’t your favorite, raspberries would be incredible on this cake and so would blueberries. Oh just imagine a lemon based cake and a light lemon icing infused with blueberries.

Oh that would be divine!

Spring Wedding Cake

white cake1

It’s the first day of April and spring is in the air and that’s no joke!

As I look outside I’m spying buds on the trees and tulips popping out of the ground and I’m convinced that the warmer weather is here to stay.

Which means I just had to find a gorgeous wedding cake today with springtime flowers!

This cake is that perfect springtime confection.

I love the square tier mixed with the round tiers. It gives that cake an elegant and glamorous feel. And the simplicity of the floral design is just perfect.

The pink and green flowers with that touch of orange is all the spring is just perfection. A simple cake topper – maybe a single fresh flower that matches the others – would be ideal.

St. Patrick’s Day Wedding Cake

shamrock cake

Tomorrow we’ll all be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and the wearing o’ the green, so today seemed like a good day to showcase a cake with little green shamrocks!

This lovely three-tier cake is iced with gorgeous rolled fondant which is decorated with sugar paste four leaf clovers.

I love that this cake is elegant yet whimsical and would be perfect for any bride looking for the Luck O’ the Irish on her wedding day!

And because the shamrocks are small and lovely you really could use this cake at any time of year, not just around St. Patricks’s Day.

Pink Macaron Wedding Cake

pink macron cake

There are fancy wedding cakes and then there are cakes that are just out-of-this world.

This pink macaron wedding cake fits neatly in the second category.

There is so much going on with this cake that your eyes aren’t sure where to look first – but that’s a good thing!

The three tier square cake is covered in light pink fondant and then macarons – some pink and some playing into the abstract art of the peony cake topper.

The cake is elegant and very pink – you would have to really love pink for this to be your cake. But somehow it all works. The peony cake topper’s colors play off the pink hue of the cake and the handpainted macarons repeating the peony’s design tie it all together.

This pink macron cake won’t work for everyone, but if you can make it work it’ll be a show stopper.

Wedding Cake with Apples and Figs

apple and fig cake

If there is one fruit that symbolizes fall it’s the apple.

Living in the Midwest, no fall season is complete without a visit to the apple orchard where you buy a bushel of apples, some apple cider, and maybe an apple pie or two.

And so when I found this wedding cake that uses apples as a decoration I just had to share it!

This is the perfect fall cake with the apples, figs, dark berries, and succulents as the only decorations.

I really love the simplicity of the square tiers and the icing that looks less-than-perfect. It gives the cake a very homemade look and  keeps it from being too fussy.

It would be the ideal centerpiece at your late fall wedding, especially if the wedding had a rustic vibe.

Blue Wedding Cake

blue wedding cake

I heard on the news yesterday that all 50 states had a below freezing temperature this week, so it seems like winter is early and here to stay.

Which got me thinking – maybe it’s time to feature a winter-themed wedding cake.

And I found this beauty – all square tiers, and icy blue frosting. It seems like a perfect winter cake – and it could be inspired by Queen Elsa from Frozen, since that movie is never going away!

I love cakes with square tiers – they just seem a bit more elegant than a round cake. And the icy blue frosting is so cool and would be so pretty at a winter wedding. It’s like an ice castle.

The pine cones add a nice rustic touch to the cake – especially with their white tips.

Orange Wedding Cake with Chocolate Flowers

orange cake

With Halloween only two days away I was searching for a wedding cake that would be the perfect centerpiece for an holiday wedding.

I think this orange and dark brown cake is the one.

After all, you can’t go wrong with a cake that features the best Halloween colors, right?

I love that the orange glow of this cake is more of a golden orange hue, rather than a pumpkin orange. Because really, a bright orange cake might scare your guests. And instead of orange-and-black this cake has dark chocolate brown flowers – that are actually made from chocolate!

Who needs trick-or-treating when you can eat chocolate flowers off a wedding cake?

This cake would be absolutely perfect at your late fall celebration.

We found this not-so-scary cake here. It was created by Sedona Cakes.
