Christina and Duncan’s wedding was like something out of an English fairytale. From a classic rose bouquet and cathedral setting all the way down to Christina’s stunning Berta Bridal lace dress, every single one of the romantic details were perfected. Look for the special details like a song performed by friends at the reception and the photos of loved ones hanging from the pews in the church during the ceremony. Christina’s new sister-in-laws made sure those loved ones who had passed away were there in memory and spirit by hanging photos of them. So thoughtful!
Christina +Duncan | May 22, 2015 | Miami, Florida | Dress Listing: Berta Bridal 14-15
Our wedding was in May at the historical Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Miami. As I walked down the big long aisle, looking into each of the loving faces of family and friends was something I dreamed about. Being able to smile at each one brought me so much joy. I really did think both myself and my husband would have cried, maybe even bawled our eyes our during the service. To both our surprises, not a single tear! Instead, we both agreed that we were way too excited and just couldn’t stop smiling!
Our reception took place at The Cruz Building in Coconut Grove. Walking into The Cruz Building was even more grand than we expected. We had some time upstairs to ourselves to look at all the tables and our cake before making our big entrance. And I had a surprise grooms cake made for my new husband and got a kick out of watching him see it for the first time. It was a big orange and white checkered ‘T’ representing his alma mater University of Tennessee.
Colors for our wedding were black and white with pops of gold and the ‘theme’ of our wedding was mainly just bringing English traditions and American traditions together, as Duncan and his family are from Northern England, U.K. Prior to the wedding we had asked all women to please wear a fascinator or fancy hat or headpiece, which is usually tradition for women to wear at a special occasion such as a wedding in England. We had golden crackers dressed on the tables that people would open before dinner with silly little gifts in them, a holiday or celebration tradition in England. As well as traditional white flags symbolizing a marriage that my soon to mother-in-law so graciously made for us. We had asked our friends Patricia and Gabby Godoy, who write and produce beautiful music together, to remake the song ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ originally by Jefferson Starship. They did, and it was beautiful! They both sang while Gabby played acoustic guitar — it was the most beautiful wedding gift.
Christina’s Dress Search
This dress was love at first sight. The cut, the fabric and the style were timeless enough for the church but sexy enough for the reception. When deciding if you’ll go for lace or no lace, this is the perfect compromise between both. The floating illusion of delicate lace photographs beautifully and even more beautiful in person. Even though the dress does technically have long sleeves and a high neckline, I felt perfectly comfortable as the illusion lace floats on a fine skin-tone mesh fabric. It really is a dream dress.
I must have tried on at least a dozen dresses, I even had a dress custom made. After drooling over the Berta gown from the beginning and thinking I’d never be able to have it, my parents went with me to try on this dream dress and ended up surprising me and purchasing it!

Why Christina Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
Because my parents bought me this amazing dress and helped a lot with the wedding expenses, I wanted to give back to them. So once I sell the dress, I will write them a check to say thank you for making my dreams come true
