Back in 2012, a smitten Victoria (@VictoriaOB_) decided to tweet the official Twitter account of the bookshop Waterstones, on Oxford Street in London, writing: “Well I’m in love with whoever is manning the @WstonesOxfordSt account. Be still my actual beating heart.”
If Internet relationships make you roll your eyes and think, “Kids these days,” just hear us out: This Twitter romance has all the charm of an old-fashioned meet cute.
Her 104-character declaration clearly made an impression, because she received an adorable response from the man behind the Waterstones account: “Pff, he’s not that dreamy in real life.” To which Victoria replied, “Pffft. Book nerds > dreamboats. #girlfacts.”
And we’re melting—seriously the sweetest Twitter flirtation ever. Victoria’s cyber crush turned out to be Waterstones’s social media guru Jonathan, and the two swapped tweets for a bit before meeting face-to-face. According to Mashable, Victoria came by the bookstore with doughnuts (always a good move), the two went for a stroll during Jonathan’s lunch break, and then headed out for cocktails later on.
“It was easily the best first date I’ve ever been on (and hopefully the last first date I’ll ever go on),” Jonathan said.
Four years later, Victoria and Jonathan were married in London at Islington Town Hall surrounded by loved ones (and some rad Lego cake toppers).
Does it get any more romantic than that? We have to say, this love story is one for the actual books. Congratulations to the happy couple! See photos of their intimate London wedding below.
