2016 Top 4 Flower Girl Fashions

At times, the bride is the star in the wedding party, whereas currently flower girls are bringing their own special sparkle down the aisle.

Kellie Gould, editor-in-chief of The Knot, joined “Good Morning America” to tell us about the top four flower girl dress trends for this wedding season. She says that flower girl dresses in 2016 are really a reflection of wedding dress trends themselves.

Top 4 Bold, Whimsical, Ladylike and Risqué Wedding Dress Trends of 2016

“The idea of dressing your mini-me in something similar to the wedding party’s style has definitely taken off,” Gould told ABC News. “When you’re shopping for a flower girl dress, don’t be afraid to have a little fun with your selection. Keep both your own style and the style of the wedding in mind.”

In the end, she added, “No matter what kind of dress you choose, you want your flower girl to be comfortable, so no super-long hemlines or scratchy fabrics.”

Take a look at four newest, most darling flower girl dress trends of 2016:

Lace dresses for daytime weddings:

Maeve has the traditional flower petals in a basket to go with her little lace dress from Jenny Yoo. Bridal Fashion Week just ended in New York City and the runways were covered in lace dresses from so many designers. Gould says it’s such a sweet and timeless fabric that you really can’t go wrong with it. This dress also features a sheer lace overlay with lace sleeves, which is also a trend in bridal fashion. It’s perfect for an outdoor daytime affair.

3D appliques for a fresh, new trend:

“Good Morning America” is excited to reveal Leah Still’s flower girl dress for The Knot’s dream wedding. Her father, Devon Still, will wed his fiancée, Asha Joyce, at the New York Public Library on May 13 with little Leah, who captured the nation’s attention as she bravely fought pediatric cancer last year, by their side. This dress is just one of her wedding looks for the day. Designed by Hayley Paige with lots of Leah’s input, it’s the perfect mix of all of Leah’s favorite things — pink, sparkle and flowers. The 3D appliques are super trendy now as designer Paige incorporated white and pink flowers all over the bottom of the dress with a few as extra touches on the belt and headband.

Tiered skirts for black tie weddings:

Eloise has a mini bouquet and is wearing a mini wedding dress from Joan Calabrese for Mon Cheri. Gould says tiered skirts with flowy layers of tulle are all over the runways these days. Eloise’s dress has a satin bodice with ruched tulle and a multi-tiered tulle skirt, which creates an ultra-feminine fairy-tale look.

Boho-style dresses for beach or garden weddings:

Leah Van Der Part is walking down the aisle blowing bubbles instead of using traditional flowers. Leah looks like a little flower child in this boho look from BHLDN. This airy frock is made of chiffon with straps that tie into sweet ribbons at the shoulders and has a ruffle bodice to create the perfect whimsical look. Gould says to add some sandals and a floral headpiece to complete the look for a beach or garden wedding.
