This country club wedding on Long Island was a dream of today’s featured bride ever since the day Aimee attended her first party at the Carlyle on the Green as a teenager. Beautifully landscaped greenery, a manor house venue with old-world charm and a gorgeous Vera Wang, Katherine wedding gown. Sounds fabulous! We are in love with the romance and grandeur of this dress…layers and layers of tulle and organza, asymmetrical gatherings of bustled crinoline and a skirt complete with hand-rolled floral detail and horsehair trim. Perfect!
Aimee + Michael | September 4, 2014 | Long Island, New York | Dress Listing: Vera Wang, Katherine
Our wedding took place on September 4, 2014 at Carlyle on the Green, a beautiful country club situated on Bethpage State Park on Long Island, New York. Though I was just a teen the first time I attended a party at this venue, I vividly recalled being captivated not only by the luscious landscape, but also by the timeless elegance of the English Manor in which the reception took place. The entire property had an old-world charm that left me dreaming of having my own wedding there someday. With much gratitude, that vision ultimately became a reality. The first decision my fiancé and I agreed upon after getting engaged was to have a late summer wedding. Aside from it being our favorite season, it forged us the opportunity to bring another dream to fruition: an outdoor ceremony. Though we did have a back-up plan in case of rain and winds, we prayed for months that our wedding day would see bright and sunny weather, which was precisely what we were blessed with. But on that night, it was not just the weather that created the ambiance, but also the beautiful floral arrangements, along with the candles and fuchsia lighting that illuminated the gazebo under which we got married. With our favorite violin covers playing as our family and friends walked down the aisle, and our talented cantor singing traditional wedding songs, we knew this was a moment we would cherish forever. For months after our wedding, our guests reminded us it was one of the most beautiful ceremonies they had ever attended.
With the few spare moments we had between our ceremony and reception, my hair stylist quickly took my hairstyle and transformed it into a chic and slicked-back chignon. I changed out of my five-inch stilettos, into a pair of bridal sneaker wedges, and now I was truly ready to party! My husband and I grabbed a quick bite to eat, and downed some Gatorade to quench our thirst, and immediately joined our guests, who flew in from around the world to join us on this special occasion. It meant so much that all our guests were on the dance floor the whole night, which was partially thanks to the talented DJ, violinist and percussionist. But just as we were warned, the party flew by in the blink of an eye and, before we knew it, we were cutting our cake and wishing our guests farewell. Even after the music shut down, our closest friends and family gathered around us, hoping to celebrate for just a bit longer. Our brother-in-law even played piano for us to continue dancing long after the band had left. It was truly unforgettable!
Aimee’s Dress Search
My first wedding gown appointment was at a local salon in my hometown that carried a variety of designers. Though I tried on close to ten different gowns, all of which were beautiful and flattering, I left with an unsettling feeling that none of them had that “wow” factor I was really looking for. I tried another three other salons that same week, but unfortunately each visit became more and more disappointing. Feeling nothing more than sheer exhaustion and despair, I made one last appointment for a small bridal boutique in NYC and hoped for the best. That morning I decided it might be helpful to bring some images of gowns I liked. I searched online with the key words I was interested in: white, horsehair, ball gown. There was one image that appeared in the results which made me gasp: the Vera Wang, Katherine gown. The only caveat was that it was in red. About an hour or two later at the bridal salon, I began to browse through the racks when I suddenly paused and my jaw dropped. It was that very same gown I hoped to magically find in white, hanging right before my eyes! I knew right then and there that my search had come to an end.

Regal, Glamorous and Ethereal.
Why Amiee Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
Although I developed a strong attachment to my gown and hoped to keep it as a treasure for years to come, I know this sale could help a future bride looking for that dream dress for half the price. Also, the money from the sale of the dress will be going towards our future home.
